Tim Rose
Owner and Professional Tour Guide
Tim Rose brings leadership, scholarship, and a deep passion for Alexandria’s past to every tour he leads. He is the founder and owner of Alexandria History Tours, a veteran- and locally owned company dedicated to sharing the stories that shaped one of America’s most historic cities. Before starting the company, Tim served for more than a decade as a United States Marine Corps officer.
Tim’s primary area of research is George Washington’s connection to Alexandria and the network of family, friends, business partners, and fellow veterans who shaped his life and legacy. He is also the author of George Washington and Alexandria: A Founding Friendship. Tim enjoys helping guests discover Alexandria through engaging, professionally guided experiences that bring the past to life. He is passionate about historic preservation, local storytelling, and creating memorable experiences for visitors from around the world.
Tim is a Virginia native, and Alexandria resident. He lives with his wife, Tyler, and daughter, Charlotte, in Alexandria.

Wayne Kehoe
Professional Tour Guide
Wayne is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. He has over 15 years of experience as a licensed tour guide in the Washington D.C. area.
Wayne Kehoe shares his love for history and storytelling with every group he leads. Specializing in Old Town Alexandria and Georgetown, Wayne has been working with Alexandria History Tours since 2023.
Outside of guiding, Wayne manages the Volunteer Program at the U.S. Capitol. Wayne loves to engage groups with fun facts and trivia! He also has a passion for military history from the Revolutionary War to the Civil War. He likes to visit battlefields and historic sites! Wayne is a D.C. Guild certified guide.


Eileen Grant
Professional Tour Guide
Eileen is a native Virginian and has called Alexandria home for over 20 years. With her husband, John, they raised their three grown children that now live in VA, NY, and CA. Eileen and John currently live in Alexandria with their dog, Sophie, and their cat, Neville.
Eileen has a passion for storytelling and history. She has researched the city’s history and uncovered fascinating stories from Alexandria's past. She started and continues to offer guided tours in Alexandria with Alexandria Colonial Tours. She also leads tours in Washington D.C. and Arlington National Cemetery.
When not guiding tours, Eileen enjoys fitness and works as a certified personal trainer and Pilates instructor.
John Grant
Professional Tour Guide
John is originally from Washington D.C. and grew up in the Washington D.C. area. John was a history major at William & Mary and studied history at the Naval War College with a focus on Revolutionary War and Civil War history.
John served in the CIA as an analyst for 37 years and retired in 2016. He has been leading tours in the D.C. area since 2019.
He lives with his wife, Eileen Grant, in Alexandria. John is a Washington D.C. Guild certified guide. When not giving tours, John enjoys traveling with Eileen to historic sites. He is also an avid Washington Commanders football fan!


Laura Bruckmann
Professional Tour Guide
Laura has a life-long passion for American history. When she was a teenager, she visited Washington D.C. as a delegate in the U.S. Senate Youth Program. During this experience, she fell in love with the history of Washington D.C. and the surrounding area to include Alexandria.
Laura decided to attend college in Washington D.C. and became a devoted Georgetown Hoya! Her career has spanned finance, education, museum management and even Zamboni driving. She has provided tours of Washington D.C., the Library of Congress, and Alexandria for many years.
Laura's tours focus on making connections between historical events and the present day. She appreciates how the past informs the present.
Laura has been a resident of Northern Virginia for twenty years, and loves sharing the history of her home with visitors. When not immersed in history, she enjoys knitting, reading, exercising, traveling in her Mustang convertible and spending time with family.
Jeff Dietrich
Professional Tour Guide
Jeff Dietrich brings a strong background in history and international affairs to every tour he leads. Originally from the New York City area, he moved to Washington, D.C., to work in the government and nonprofit sectors. He holds a B.A. in History and an M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia University.
Jeff served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Central America and spent years working in international development, focusing on U.S. foreign aid and global health and education programs.
Today, he enjoys sharing his passion for American history with guests in Alexandria. Jeff lives locally with his wife, Diane, and enjoys reading, traveling, and playing the piano.


Keith White
Professional Tour Guide
Keith brings decades of storytelling and historical interpretation experience to every tour he leads. A longtime editor and reporter in Washington, he spent much of his career covering Congress before turning his passion for history into public service and guided tours.
Keith previously led tours at Chancellorsville Battlefield from 1997 to 2020 and now serves as a docent at Arlington House inside Arlington National Cemetery. He also volunteers as a docent at the National Museum of American History.
His love of history began while growing up in Oklahoma and has grown into a lifelong interest in the Civil War, the American West, and both world wars. Keith has lived in Alexandria since 1987 and enjoys sharing the city’s Civil War and waterfront history with guests.

Becoming a guide with Alexandria History Tours starts with experiencing the tour yourself. We ask all prospective guides to sign up and join a tour to understand our approach, standards, and what sets us apart.
If you are interested in joining the team, please reach out before or after your tour.
We maintain high expectations for our guides. Training is thorough for everyone, regardless of prior experience. For those new to guiding, the process is extensive. Even experienced guides should expect a structured and detailed training period.
Depending on your background, training typically ranges from three months to one year. Our goal is to develop guides who are true subject matter experts and who have a genuine passion for Alexandria’s history.
